Question: Me and my bestfriend have been friends for years now and she has never ever done anything to hurt me except for last night. last night me and my so called bestfriend went to a dance party together, and it just so happened the boy that i had been crushing on for a while was there. The boy that i was crushing on didnt like me, he liked my bestfriend, so he asked her to dance. My bestfriend said yes after she knew i was almost completely in love with him. is she a true bestfriend? - posted by 10.0.0.7 Reply

You can't test a friendship by an isolated incident such as this. Did your friend do anything to encourage your crush to ask her to dance? If she was flirting with him openly, you may have a right to be upset. If not, she can't really control that he chose to ask her to dance instead of you. She may have spent her time dancing with him talking about how great you are. I know it seems like a huge deal right now, but please don't lose sight of the fact that crushes will come and go throughout your life, but true friends are really hard to fine. The best thing you can do is talk to your friend about your feelings. - posted by Mary G. White
Question: what is the new democratic party - posted by 10.0.0.7 Reply

Replies:
The New Democratic Party isn't actually new. This Canadian political party has been in existence since 1961. The party takes a strong stand on important issues, including health care, the environment, education, equality for women, seniors, and many others. Kids and young adults who are interested in the party may want to consider signing up for Youth United (http://youthunited.ndp.ca/), which is referred to as the New Democratic Youth of Canada. - posted by Mary G. Question: What does thrifty mean? - posted by 10.0.0.7 Reply

Replies:
Being thrifty means making smart decisions about how to spend your money. The word thrifty is not a synonym for cheap. Thrifty individuals don't necessarily avoid spending money. Instead, they make sure that their money is spent wisely. Thrifty shoppers use coupons, engage in comparison shopping, and base their shopping activities and plans on current sales. They also come up with creative ways to use what they have instead of spending money on things they really don't need. People who are thrifty don't purchase expensive items without (1) making sure they need the items and (2) shopping around for the best possible deal. - posted by Mary G. White
Question: how do I answer when someone asks if we are going to have more kids? - posted by 10.0.0.7 Reply

Hi! That can be a difficult question, especially if you don't know if you want to have any more. The best answer is to just be honest. If you don't plan to have any more kids, let them know that you love the kids you have and feel your family is complete. If you want more children, but your youngest is still too young, try "We are waiting for the right time." If you are currently trying, I suggest saying something like, "When God says it's time." Don't be afraid to use a little humor in your answer if it fits your personality, like "Why, are you looking to adopt?" You can also turn the question around and ask them, "When do you plan to have more kids?" - posted by Debbie LaCroix

Question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? - Alex L., age 7 - posted by Debbie LaCroix Reply

That is a very complicated and philosophical question, and a perfect example of circular philosophy. Technically, for a chicken to be born, he has to hatch from an egg. However, you need a chicken to lay an egg. So one event can not happen without the other. It is one question that is debated by the most intelligent men and women. Many scientists, however, have looked at this question closely and feel they have the answer based on evolution. They say that since chickens evolved from other species, an egg had to have been laid, from which a chicken hatched. What do you think? Please share your answer! - posted by Debbie LaCroix
Question: What's a tornado? - posted by Kelly Roper Reply

A tornado is a whirlwind: fast dangerous wind movement. The circular pattern causes it to literally suck up and destroy anything in its path. It is created by a circular motion of winds ranging between 40 mph to 300mph or more. At the center is a vortex. This air movement is created typically from the energy of a thunderstorm. The changing heat in the clouds of a thunderstorm literally pulls air upwards towards the sky, known as an updraft. This updraft is what ultimately leads to the swirling air being sucked upwards, creating the tornado. A fun way to create this effect is with your kids in the sink. As the water runs out, you will see the swirling action caused by the water. This is similar to what happens in the air with tornado. - posted by Debbie Vasen
