Black Jack Online Advice

Is it Legal?

Before uploading your money to cyberspace, be aware that online gambling is a gray area. In September of 2006, a bill was passed that made transactions from banks or similar institutions to online gambling sites illegal. However, this bill did not address other areas of gambling.

That is why many online-gambling sites are based in the Caribbean, Latin America and Australia.

Consider seeking Online gambling advice before starting out.

Be Leary of Scams

When you find a site that catches your eye, research it first before making any bets. Here are some things to look for:

  • How long has the site been up? You can visit Whois and find out when the domain name was registered and who owns it. If the site is less then 6 months old, move on. Established sites are more reliable.
  • Google the site name and “scam”. This allows you to find any complaints other users have had with the site.
  • If the site mentions “not a scam” numerous times, be cautious.
  • Be careful of any “claims” a website may make.

Set a Maximum

Before you begin, decide how much you can afford to lose. Do not allow yourself to go over that amount.

Understand Blackjack

There are many different versions of Blackjack. Before deciding which game to play, find black jack online advice to learn how to play the games and the odds of winning. If you are unsure on how to play, skip it until you have practiced a few rounds with your buddies.

The Rules

The goal of Blackjack is to reach "21" without going over. You need a combination of both luck and skill to decide if you should “hit” or “stand.” The basic rules are:

  • Face cards are worth "10"
  • Aces are worth either "1" or "11"
  • The ideal hand is called a Blackjack, and is worth "21" points. It consists of a face card or "10" and an Ace.
  • You begin with two cards, one is face up for everyone to see and the other is face down for your eyes only
  • Your goal is to beat the dealer and other players
  • If you go over “21” you automatically lose
  • Say “hit” if you want another card
  • Use “stand” if you want to stay
  • Push happens when you and the dealer have the same total
  • At most tables, if the dealer has “17” they are required to stand

Hit or Stand is an online tutorial which explains the rules and allows you to play. If you are new to Blackjack or need to brush up your skills, this website offers great Black Jack online advice.

Blackjack Terms

It is helpful to understand the terms used during a game:

  • Hit means you are asking the dealer for another card.
  • Stand is used when you do not want another card.
  • Blackjack means you were dealt an "Ace" and a "10" or face card totaling "21".
  • Double Down means you double your bet and take another card. You only get one card.
  • Split separates your two cards into two hands. You have to have a pair to split. This can only be done during your first move.
  • Push occurs when you and the dealer tie. No money exchanges place.

Tips for Playing Blackjack

  • Watch the dealer’s hand before making your decision to hit or stay.
  • If your cards total over "17", consider staying.
  • If you have low cards totaling fewer than 11, hit.
  • You can hit more then once.
  • Remember that an Ace equals either “1” or “11”.
  • If the dealer shows a “6” or below, and you have a high card, consider standing. They are required to “hit” and often will “bust”.
  • Double down when you have “11”, unless the dealer is showing an Ace
  • If you have two Aces, split.
