| If you got salt stains on your clothing or shoes from walking in snow and ice, you could have two possible problems. The first is if the de-icer used was actually a chemical solution and not plain salt. If this is the case, the chemical may have reacted with the fabric causing a loss of color and not a true stain. Most likely, this will not come out. If instead, it was simply normal salt (which does work great for melting snow and ice) the stains should easily remove with normal washing. If they are stubborn, you can add some vinegar to the wash to help break up the salt residue. Of course, it also depends on the actual fabric of the article with the stain. If it is footwear or leather, you can use vinegar and a rag. Typically, normal salt stains are easy to remove. Good luck! - posted by Debbie Vasen

| Hi, thanks for your question. The best way to get oily hair odor out of pillow cases is to soak them in a degreasing cleaning product before you wash them. Many kitchen cleaners are available in a degreasing formula, including Formula 409, Simple Green, Fantastic, Citrus Klenz, and other brands. Be sure to avoid choosing a degreasing cleanser that also includes bleaching agents if your pillow cases aren't white. Completely rinse the soaked pillow cases before you run them through your washing machine. This should do the trick! - posted by Mary G. White

| Question: How do I get rid of a grout stain on a pair of jeans? - posted by 10.0.0.7 Reply

| Unfortunately, there is very little chance of getting a grout stain out of a pair of jeans. If the grout dries on the jeans, the stain is definitely permanent. If you catch the stain before it dries, you might be able to minimize the permanent staining. Run water over the affected area, scrubbing it with a brush. Then, immediately wash the jeans in cold water with a color safe bleach. - posted by Mary G. White

| To get rid of mildew in jeans, first take them outside and brush off the mildew to get it out of the home and prevent it from spreading. Next, soak them in very, very hot water. To get rid of the odor, use vinegar. You can also use a non-chlorinated bleach such as Oxyclean.
