Measurement Tips and Advice
Measuring Liquids and Dry Ingredients
Dry and liquid measurements are not the same, so make sure you use the correct type of measuring cup for your specific ingredients. Usually glass measuring cups are intended for liquids and the nested metal or plastic ones are best for dry ingredients such as flour or sugar.
Converting Pints to Quarts and Gallons
There are eight pints of liquid in a gallon and two pints in a quart. Two liquid cups makes up a pint and there are 16 tablespoons per cup.
Convert Units of Measurement Tips with Google
Google has a handy conversion calculator built into their search engine for an easy measurement tip. In the search box, simply type the conversion you need. For example, if you type "convert 1 cup to tablespoons" in Google, the first result you see will be the conversion result: "1 US cup = 16 US tablespoons."
How Much is a Pinch?
When a recipe calls for a pinch of an ingredient, you should add a little less than one eighth of a teaspoon of the item.
