Tarot Advice Uses

Tarot cards were not originally designed to tell the future. Today, however, they are used by both professional fortune tellers and amateurs as a way to predict the future or give insight into a personal situation.

Tarot Cards History

Though the true history of tarot cards is a mystery, they are thought to date back to the fifteenth century. The first set of cards is believed to originate in Italy. They were based from a standard deck of fifty-two cards, but the designer added twenty-two special cards not assigned to a suite (such as hearts, diamonds, spades or clubs).

Game of Triumphs

The cards were used to play a card game similar to bridge, called the Game of Triumphs. It was popular among the upper class in Italy and France. The game quickly spread over the continent.

Mystical Meaning

It was not until a few centuries later that these cards were referred to for tarot advice. Scholar occultists from France and England saw magical symbolism and meaning in the cards and began using them in a new way: to tell the future.
